Name Solan is given to this place by the name of Hindu Goddess Shoolini
Devi. It is also the largest municipal Council of the state Himachal
Pradesh. During british rule this place name was Bhagat. But after the
independnce of india it was named Solan. In the late 19 century solan
can be called as a British Town. Contonment Area also established by
britishers during there rule.
